Eden Hazard doesn’t seem to give a single stuff about those Real Madrid rumours at the moment.
Asked about them by French radio station Onze Mondial the Chelsea star joked he would only move if the Spanish champions met his £350m price tag…that he completely made up on the spot.
Then when asked about Real boss Zinedine Zidane’s praise of him, Hazard went one further and suggested jokingly that he will ask the Blues to sack Antonio Conte and replace him with Zidane.
“I’ll speak to Chelsea’s board about that, we’ll see,” joked Hazard. “More seriously, for now, we have a manager who’s there, and he isn’t a small one either. It’s going to be hard to move him.
“Your question is pertinent, however. I’ll speak to the board about that,” he said before laughing again.
Whereas most players might be keeping their cards close to their chest – especially as Spanish media are claiming Hazard does indeed want to move to Real in January – he is happily joking about ludicrous situations.
It’s refreshing for a footballer to be taking a more relaxed approach to transfer rumours – although how his jokes will go down with Chelsea fans is another thing.
Meanwhile, the Belgian star left things on a less-than-convincing note saying he wants to get to the end of the season and see what happens.
He added: “I’m here for now, I’m trying to finish the year as best I can.
“After that, I’ll have two years left on my deal. We’ll see what happens.”
Hoping to carry on his career at ‘the highest level’, the Chelsea forward also revealed he will stop when his body tells him its time, and will never play just for the sake of it.
As for the whole wanting to be managed by Zinedine Zidane thing, why would that mean he has to move to Real Madrid? Why can’t the Frenchman move to him?
Somehow, we don’t think he was being serious.
